New music: Reigning Sound - Eve

Let's get this out of the way: Reigning Sound is one of my favorite bands.  Greg Cartwright's songs mix Memphis' two preeminent traditions - loud, brash garage rock and gritty Stax-inspired soul - a combination that sends my heart aflutter.  While the band may be best known for guitar-drenched, ass-shaking R&B, Cartwright also has a knack for cutting deep with heartfelt ballads.  "Eve", a preview from the band's upcoming LP falls into the second camp.  A gorgeous melody, shadowed by mournful organ and rounded out by shimmering, layered acoustic and electric guitar fills.  Maybe the prettiest song in the band's catalogue.
